Have you ever heard the saying, “Keep it together. Act like everything is fine. Just get to the other side, and it will be okay.” As women and mothers, we hear this message in a thousand different ways—smile, be strong, hold it all together. But that statement is misleading.
Yes, there is a powerful place for emotional intelligence and self-control. But anything in our lives that we don’t deal with that is holding us back will eventually fall apart on its own, whether we choose that moment or not.
We all reach a point where the pressures of life feel unbearably heavy, and we start to unravel inside. For moms, that might look like snapping at your kids, crying in the bathroom, or feeling numb and exhausted.
And there comes a sacred moment when you have to decide: I am not going to keep pretending everything is okay. I am going to release what I can no longer carry.
That moment is not weakness—it’s courage. It’s when you begin to sort through your life: the expectations that are crushing you, the roles you’ve outgrown, the relationships that drain you, and even the dreams you’ve buried under everyone else’s needs. You gently ask: What truly serves me, my family, and my purpose—and what does not?
Don’t just keep it together. Sort it out. Let it go.
Take ownership of what you carry on this journey of life. Decide what goes and what stays. Make space to reflect and notice the “heavy hitchhikers” weighing you down—guilt, comparison, perfectionism, and the need to be everything for everyone.
Sometimes you have to put down those weights so you can finally pick up the things you put on hold in that heavy season: your health, your joy, your creativity, your calling.
If you find yourself constantly trying to keep it together, give yourself permission to start letting go.
As you release what doesn’t serve you, you’ll discover that you don’t have to force your life to work. Things begin to flow because you’ve chosen to prioritize what truly supports you as a woman, a mother, and a human being with dreams that still matter.
You don’t have to do this journey alone, and you were never meant to. Whether you’re rediscovering your joy, deepening your faith, or simply trying to breathe again —
