Dear Mama, we have entered the fall season. As fall arrives, the earth transitions from summer’s warmth to calm, cozy, cool days. This change brings with it a sense of expectation—leaves turn and fall, days grow shorter, and the air chills. The beauty of seasons lies not just in their constant change, but that we can anticipate and prepare for them.
As you look ahead to the holidays and upcoming events, remember to also prepare yourself for fall. This means being open to moving and shifting with the new season. As moms, we sometimes create rigid systems for ourselves, which help in stability but can hinder adaptability. If we resist change, we may miss out on new opportunities and joys. Fall invites us to let go of old habits, unhelpful mindsets, stress, and anything that no longer works. It’s a chance to release the old and fully welcome the new.
As a woman, this is your season for fresh ideas, peace, and rest. Reflect on what you wish to keep and what you need to let go of during this new chapter. Allow yourself to slow down—take care of yourself, write in your journal, or savor a warm cup of tea or pumpkin-spice latte. Like trees shedding leaves, you’re invited—by God and by nature—to let go of perfectionism and cling to what brings you life.
As a mother, let fall be a time of mindful, intentional moments with your children. Remember, you have the power to choose how you shape your days and the life you want. Go pumpkin picking, carve pumpkins, or bake pumpkin cookies or pumpkin chocolate chip muffins together. These special times create traditions and memories that will grow with your children.
As a wife, create meaningful moments with your spouse. Fall can be a romantic season full of warmth and connection if you embrace it: plan cozy evenings in, take walks together, and enjoy everyday life by appreciating the beauty in life’s imperfect, messy moments.
Change and transformation are welcome parts of life; remember, transition takes time, and you don’t need to do everything at once. Meet yourself where you are, consider the changes you can make now, and take steps toward them. Personally, I started romanticizing motherhood in the fall by playing an autumn jazz station on Pandora, enjoying a warm pumpkin spice coffee, and baking pancakes, muffins, and cookies with pumpkin spice throughout my home. This simple change was my starting point. Celebrate your blessings and the harvests you’ve enjoyed so far. Establish new routines that suit your family and actively participate in them, rather than just observing. Maintaining balance is essential—do what brings your family joy and remember it’s perfectly fine to rest, recharge, and be happy.
Romanticizing motherhood in the fall isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence, cozy memories, and seeing everyday life through a grateful heart.
Whether you’re embracing fall as a woman, a mother, or a wife, remember: this season is an invitation to reconnect with yourself and your loved ones.
